Gorilla trekking

La Palme Hotel is situated in Musanze near Volcanoes National Park, which protects Rwanda’s mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and many other primates and wildlife species. Mountain gorilla trekking is a must-do experience. Rwanda offers over 11 habituated mountain gorilla families all in Volcanoes National Park. Gorilla trekking can only be done in three countries, such as Rwanda, Uganda, and the DR Congo.

Mountain gorilla trekking begins with a morning briefing at the park’s headquarters, then a hike in the mountain landscape searching for the gorillas in their natural environment. The guides for each group of trekkers will lead you to the allocated mountain gorilla family, and there is a maximum of 8 individuals. Once you have located mountain gorillas, tourists are only given an hour with mountain gorillas to observe, take photos, and film without flash lights.
