Murchison River Lodge was formed by Chris and Georgie while traveling through Africa, the Middle East, and throughout India. They came up with the wild concepts that would become Murchison River Lodge. The lodge was designed to be welcoming to visitors from all over the world and to provide accommodations for everyone, regardless of their financial situation, and we believe we have succeeded. After having our own children, we understand as a family how vital it is to be able to travel while still having your children catered for and taken care of.
Murchison River Lodge is dispersed among 30 acres of undeveloped forest, with views of Murchison Falls National Park from the bar and restaurant and across the River Nile. Wild creatures are frequently spotted on the property; therefore, in the evenings, we offer an escort from the restaurant to your lodging to help you avoid any hippos that may be wandering the paths. More minor bugs and insects might be present in your room, but they are not to be scared of because they are also part of Africa's rich ecosystem. This is a friendly reminder that credit card payments are not accepted in Uganda due to the high banking fees.
Most of the men and women who work for us are locals and have been with Murchison River Lodge since its inception. Each and every one of our team members plays a crucial role in making your time at the lodge what it is at its core: bright, warm, and genuine.
The swimming pool at the Murchison River Lodge has been skillfully constructed in a forest setting with a view of the Nile. Below the entry is a patio with pool towels, sun loungers, and a built-in sofa. The shallow end of the infant pool is covered by a frame to provide shade from the sun. It is located next to the main pool. We have erected a steel fence around the pool area for safety (and to prevent small children from running in without an adult).
While the meat comes from a reputable butchery in Jinja and the remaining items are imported from Masindi or Kampala, the majority of our fresh vegetables, including fish, are found locally. Daily, fresh meals are provided by our kitchen crew, and if you have any special dietary needs, please let us know when making your reservation.
